So, today I checked out the outdoor rink at the Midway Plaisance in Chicago's Hyde Park. Two problems: it was 50 degrees outside (finally), and it was Sunday, when the rat hockey sessions are for kids (and their dads).
By the time the session ended nearly and hour early because of the conditions, the place looked more like a swimming pool than an ice rink. I took a header at the end, and felt like I had just done a Ron Burgundy cannonball.
It was ok skating around with the kids, but I want to return when they aren't there (like most situations).
Adult Rat Hockey sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays, 7-9pm, for $6. Kids are welcome on weekends from 10-noon.
